Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF ANIMAL FAT CONSUMPTION LEVEL WITH THE EVENT OF HYPERTENSION IN BANJARANGKAN VILLAGE,BANJARANGKAN DISTRICT, KLUNGKUNG DISTRICT ABSTRACT Hypertension or high blood pressure disease is a disorder in the blood vessels that results in the supply of oxygen and nutrients, which are carried by the blood, being blocked to the body tissues that need it. Hypertension is closely related to the wrong diet. Hypertension is often found in people who consume excess fat, especially saturated fat from animal sources such as meat, especially red meat. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of consumption of animal fat and the incidence of hypertension in Banjarangkan Village, Banjarangkan District, Klungkung Regency. The type of research used is observational with a cross sectional design. The research sample aged 38 - 55 years was 63 people who were taken by proportional random sampling. The data collected includes data, sample identity, level of consumption of animal fat, and blood pressure. Data were processed and analyzed by univariate and bivariate. The results of the study found that 42.9% had hypertension. What is obtained from the incidence of hypertension is from 63 samples that have been studied, from 36 samples with normal blood pressure status, most of the levels of consumption of animal fat in the sample are less, namely as many as 23 samples (63.9%). In all 27 samples with hypertension status (100.0%) the level of consumption of animal fat in the sample was high. From the Pearson product moment correlation test, it was obtained that p value = 0.001 which means that at a significant level of 5% there is a relationship between the level of consumption of animal fat and the incidence of hypertension.
