Abstract
THE RELATIONSHIP OF LONG SUFFERING WITH DM AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION WITH NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF TYPE 2 DIABETES MELITUS PATIENTS IN UPTD PUSKESMAS II DENPASAR BARAT ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by hyperglycemia as a result of insulin resistance. People with DM are the groups at risk of decreasing BMI. The longer the blood suffers from diabetes will affect the nutritional status because of the non-optimal control of glucose which results in body fat and protein muscle to be metabolized as a substitute for glucose and also the longer suffering from DM has the risk of infection that affects nutritional status. In addition, energy consumption is also a direct cause that affects nutritional status. The purpose of research is to find out the correlation of long suffering from DM and energy consumption with the nutritional status of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at UPTD Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat. The type of research is observational with a cross sectional design and using a purposive sampling technic totaling 50 samples. Data was collected by interview and measurement methods. The data is presented with a frequency and a cross table then the data variables are tested for normality using the Shapiro Wilk test. The results of the Rank Spearman correlation analysis test, there is a significant correlation between the duration of suffering from DM and the nutritional status of patients with DM (p = 0,003, r = - 0,415). Meanwhile, energy consumption and nutritional status of DM patients, based on the results of the Pearson Product Moment correlation test, there is significant relationship (p = 0,001, r = 0,714).
