Abstract
CONSUMPTION PATTERN AND COMPLIANCE WITH FE TABLET CONSUMPTION AND INCIDENCE OF ANEMIA IN ADOLESCENT GIRLS ABSTRACT Anemia is a condition where Hb levels are lower than normal for people according to age and gender. The prevalence of anemia in Indonesia reaches 23,7% with the proportion in women being 27,2%. The causes of anemia are low iron levels, absorption levels and poor eating habits. The purpose of this study was to determine relationship between consumption patterns and adherence to Fe tablet consumption with the incidence of anemia. This research is qualitative with literature study method. The research subjects were adolescent girls aged 11–18 years. The results of the data reviewed, incidence of anemia ranged 15,7% – 78,7%. Consumption of protein is less/not good 27,6% – 63,4% and 36,6% – 72,4% enough/good. Consumption of vitamin C is less/not good ranging 42,3% – 85,0% and 15,0% – 57,7% is enough/good. Frequency of eating (< 3 times/day) ranged 13,0% – 80,7% and 19,3% – 87,0% (≥ 3 times/day). Consumption of Fe tablets in the non-adherent category ranged 26,0% – 47,1%, in the less compliant 31,4% and 21,6% – 74,0% in the obedient. The relationship between consumption patterns and the incidence of anemia hasn’t been consistent (heterogeneous). The correlation between adherence to consumption of Fe tablets with the incidence of anemia was consistent (homogeneous), significant results were obtained (p = <0,05). Keywords: Anemia, Consumption Pattern, Fe Tablet Compliance, Adolescent Girls.
