Abstract

RELATIONSHIP LEVEL OF FAT AND FIBER CONSUMPTION WITH CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN CORONARY HEART DISEASE (CHD) PATIENTS ABSTRACT Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a cardiovascular disease (heart and blood vessel disease). CHD has two types of risk factors, namely irreversible risk factors (such as: age and gender) and modifiable risk factors (such as: smoking, physical activity, and diet). This study aims to determine the relationship between levels of fat and fiber consumption with cholesterol levels in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). This research is a literature review from March to April 2021 using qualitative research methods. The subjects in this study were outpatient CHD patients aged ≥35 years. The research data includes characteristic data, namely age and gender, the level of consumption of fat and fiber obtained from the articles under study then tabulated and analyzed qualitatively. The results of the literature review found that the average level of sample fat consumption, including the over-category category, ranges from 25% -30% of the total energy needs. The average level of fiber sample consumption, including the less category, ranges from 25-30 grams / day. Based on the analysis, 1 article stated that there was a significant relationship between the level of fat consumption and cholesterol levels in CHD patients (p = <0.05) and 2 articles stated that there was no significant relationship (p => 0.05). Then 1 article stated that there was a relationship between the level of fiber consumption and cholesterol levels in CHD patients (p = <0.05) and 3 articles stated that there was no significant relationship (p => 0.05). Keywords : Coronary Heart Disease, Cholesterol, Fat and Fiber Consumption
