Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE LEVEL OF NUTRIENT CONSUMPTION , LENGTH OF STAY AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS AT THE SANJIWANI GENERAL HOSPITAL GIANYAR ABSTRACT Hospital Nutrition Services is one of the important indicators in hospital plenary services, part of nutrition services in inpatient rooms for patients who play a significant role in the healing process of inpatients. Of the various diseases being treated are patients with a diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus who are currently being treated at the Sanjiwani Hospital in Gianyar. The management of Diabetes Mellitus patients is carried out through drug therapy and appropriate food or diet so that it is expected to accelerate the patient's recovery.The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of nutrient consumption with length of stay and nutritional status of Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Sanjiwani Regional General Hospital, Gianyar, calculate the level of nutrient consumption, calculate the length of stay and assess the nutritional status of Diabetes Mellitus patients.This study is an observational study with a cross-sectional design.The research has been carried out in the inpatient room (except the Isolation Room) of the Sanjiwani Regional General Hospital, Gianyar on 12 May to 12 June 2021.The population in this study were Diabetes Mellitus patients with or without complications who were hospitalized at the Sanjiwani Regional General Hospital, Gianyar with a total sample of 25 people.The data used are primary and secondary data. Data analysis using Spearman rank test analysisThe results of the study found that 76.0% of the level of nutrient consumption was lacking in the inpatient room of the Sanjiwani Regional General Hospital, Gianyar. Based on the results of research on the length of stay of Diabetes Mellitus patients, the fastest length of hospitalization was 4 days and the longest was 15 days.The results of the bivariate analysis using the Spearman rank test and the p value = 0.480. Because the p value > (0.05), then H0 failed to be rejected. This means that there is no relationship between length of stay and nutritional status of patients with diabetes mellitus at the Sanjiwani Regional General Hospital, Gianyar.The hospital should improve the quality of service, especially the nutrition section, in order to achieve the maximum level of consumption for Diabetes Mellitus patients in the inpatient room of the Sanjiwani Hospital, Gianyar.
