Abstract

Background: Breastfeeding is very important for optimal growth and development, both physically and mentally. The target of 80% coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is still very far from reality. The prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding according to data from the National Statistical Center Agency shows that exclusive breastfeeding data on average from 2018 to 2020 has increased but is still below the national target. Likewise, exclusive breastfeeding data in Bali Province starting from 2018 was 27.08%, in 2019 it was 69.87% and in 2020 it was 64.92% which was still below the national target. Even the data based on the 2018 Basic Health Research, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding was 37.3%, a decrease compared to the 2013 Basic Health Research data of 54.3%. The results of exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Buleleng Regency in 2019 showed 70%. Meanwhile, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding at the Puskesmas Sawan II was 66.2%. Methods : The research was conducted from April to July 2021. This type of research is a survey research with a cross sectional design, simple random sampling technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity. Data were tabulated and processed using the chi-square statistical test with a significance level of 5%. Results: There are mothers with a good knowledge level of 53.3% and a sufficient level of knowledge of 20.9%. There are mothers who give exclusive breastfeeding by 71.4% and mothers who do not give exclusive breastfeeding by 28.5%.
