Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF CHEMOTHERAPY FREQUENCY WITH INTAKE MACRO NUTRITIONAL SUBSTANCES AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF BREAST CANCER PATIENTS (LITERATURE REVIEW) ABSTRACT Breast Cancer (BC) is the highest contributor to female mortality. Breast cancer is a malignant tumor of cells in the mammary glands, including the ducts of the mammary glands and their supporting tissues that grow infiltratively, destructively, and metastasize. Chemotherapy is one of the therapies used to treat breast cancer, but this therapy has side effects such as nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, thus affecting the intake of macronutrients. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the frequency of chemotherapy and macronutrient intake and nutritional status in breast cancer patients. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research using the study literature method. This research was carried out for 1 month, namely in May 2021. The data sources were obtained from published research journals and were traced to the database with the keywords: Chemotherapy Frequency, Macronutrient Intake, Nutritional Status, Breast Cancer It was found that 10 related journals were included in the inclusion criteria for review. Based on the results of the literature review, it is known that most of the journals stated that there was a decrease in macronutrients in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. From the results of a study of 10 journals, most of the journals said that there was no relationship between the frequency of chemotherapy and nutrient intake with the nutritional status of breast cancer patients.
