Abstract

Differences of Nutritional Status Based on Vegetable and Fruit Consumption of Primary School Children in Kelurahan Padangkerta, Kecamatan Karangasem ABSTRACT Vegetables and fruits are food sources that contain vitamins and minerals which are very beneficial for health, development and growth. The national prevalence of vegetable and fruit consumption less than 5 servings per day for people aged ≥ 5 years is 95,5%. Inadequate intake of nutrients in children can result in disruption of children's growth and development. This study aims to determine the differences of nutritional status based on vegetable and fruit consumption of primary school children. The type of this research is observational with cross sectional design which was conducted on 96 samples of primary school children in grades IV and V in Kelurahan Padangkerta. Data analysis used independent sample t-test. The results showed that there was no difference (p˃0,05) in nutritional status based on vegetables and fruits consumption of primary school children. Most of the vegetables and fruits consumption for sample has not met the consumption standard according to WHO, which is 250 grams of vegetables and 150 grams of fruit.
