Abstract
Dysmenorrhea or painful menstruation is a disorder during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea can have several impacts, especially on adolescents. One of the activities that are disrupted due to menstrual pain is learning activities. In Indonesia, the incidence of dysmenorrhea is quite high, reaching 60-90% indicating dysmenorrhea sufferers. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of dysmenorrhea in female adolescents in SMA Negeri 1 Selat in 2021 with a descriptive type of research and a cross sectional approach. Sampling using purposive sampling technique with a total of 69 respondents. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire with google form. The results of this study describe the students who experienced dysmenorrhea with a mild pain scale as many as 28 people (40.6%), 31 people with moderate pain (44.9%) and 10 people with severe pain (14.5%). The impact of menstrual pain felt by adolescent girls as many as 57 people (82.6%) said that their daily activities were disturbed and 12 people (17.4%) said that their daily activities were not disturbed. The activity that was most disturbed when experiencing menstrual pain was learning activities as many as 60 people (87.0%). Most of the management efforts used non-pharmacological therapy as many as 60 people (87.0%) and pharmacological therapy as many as 9 people (13.0%). It is hoped that health agencies can provide education as well as counseling for students regarding menstrual pain and efforts to treat menstrual pain.
