Abstract
ABSTRACT Oral and dental health maintenance and dental health development especially in school age children need special attention because at this age the child is undergoing the process of growing flowers. Previous tooth condition will affect the development of dental health in adulthood. Incidence of dental and oral health problems in children one of the factors is the level of knowledge. The purpose of this study to determine the level of knowledge about dental and oral health care before and after given counseling on students in grade IV and V at SDN 1 Tamanbali Bangli in 2018. This research type is descriptive research. The total of research population is 55 students. Types of data collected are primary data in the form of description of knowledge level and secondary data sourced from absent students of class IV and V. Method of collecting data gives problem before counseling as pre-test, then given counseling and end by giving post test as evaluation. The result of the research shows that the level of knowledge before giving counseling with the category of failure is 23 people (42%), while the level of knowledge after giving the counseling with very good category is 38 people (69%). The average level of knowledge before giving counseling 51.09 (less) while the average level of knowledge after given 80.27 (very good) counseling. The conclusion of this study is the average of knowledge before and after given counseling has increased. Keywords: Knowledge, Maintenance of Dental and Oral Health, Counseling.
