Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF VERBAL COMMUNICATION ABILITY IN STROKE PATIENTS AT THE BULELENG BALI REGIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2021 ABSTRACT Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third cause of disability in the world. Stroke has a very detrimental impact on the sufferer, one of which is speech disorders. Speech disorders in strokes result from paralysis of the nerves and motor muscles that regulate the movement of the lips and tongue. This paralysis of the muscles causes disruption in the process of producing sound in speech. This means that there is a problem with verbal communication difficulties in the stroke patient. For this reason, researchers are interested in conducting this research. This study aims to determine the verbal communication ability in stroke patients at the Buleleng Regional General Hospital. This research uses descriptive method and the sampling technique used is the total sampling technique. This study was located in the Sandat room of the Buleleng Regional General Hospital with a total sample of 32 respondents. The results showed that 15 respondents (46.9%) had good verbal communication ability, 4 respondents (12.5%) were sufficient, and 13 respondents (40.6%) were lacking. From these results it can be concluded that most of the respondents have good verbal communication ability. Keywords: Ability, Verbal Communication, Stroke.
