Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that hitherto incurable can cause fear for individuals who are suffering, sustained anxiety and eventually lead to depression. Depression felt by people with diabetes may include moodiness, hopelessness, and helplessness. Based on research conducted shows that reality therapy can reduce depression. This study aims to reveal the reality of nursing care therapy to reduce the helplessness of patients with diabetes mellitus type II this . Research useresearch descriptive and use a case study approach on two patients with diabetes mellitus type II in hospitals Mangusada Badung. The results of the assessment carried out through interviews, observation and documentation on nurses and families of patients in the study subjects one and twoshowed subjective data patientsexpressed frustration or unable to carry out previous activities and patients feel depressed (depression) of objective data to rely on others. Problems formulated that powerlessness. Planning performed by nurses is giving reality therapy. The action taken is the provision of reality therapy. The evaluation results obtained after administration of nursing care for three days for 30 minutes, the problem of powerlessness experienced by patients is reduced to subjective data of research subjects said it was able to perform slowly and objective data of research subjects seem able to participate in decision making
