Abstract

RELATIONSHIP OF MOTHER’S KNOWLEDGE AND EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING WITH NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF TODDLER’S IN SUSUT VILLAGE, SUSUT DISTRICT, BANGLI REGENCY ABSTRACT The golden period is an important period for babies and toddlers to get optimal nutritional intake such give the beast milk from breastfeeding. These period is starts from the growth period from the fetus until the age is two years old.Lack of breast milk in this range ages, it can be to reduce the nutritional status of babies or toddlers. This study was related in mothers of knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding, and relationship of exclusive breastfeeding with nutritional status of toddlers in Susut Village, Susut District, Bangli Regency. This study was an observational study with a cross sectional design. Sampling in this study uses probability sampling techniques was taken from 9 districts in Susut Village, Bangli Regency. The number of samples in this study consisted of 55 mothers of toddlers with using statistics spearman ranking trials. The results showed that the majority of mother's knowledge about ASI were still sufficient (50.9%), exclusive breastfeeding assistance by mothers of toddlers were smaller (29.1%) than mothers of toddlers who did not provide exclusive breast milk (70.9%), and the nutritional status of toddlers are still in the normal category (81.8%) based on body weight / height. Based on these results, mothers of knowledge and giving exclusive breast milk has contributed (p <0.05) and exclusive breastfeeding contributed to the nutritional status of toddler did not fully related to contributions (p> 0.05). The knowledge of mothers who do not support exclusive breast milk, it would be does not support the nutritional status of toddlers. Therefore it is nutrition education and necessary to breastfeeding the toddlers and providing guidelines of breastfeeding for mothers of toddler to improving the nutritional status of toddlers .
