Abstract

Cardiac Arrest is athe abrupt loss of heart pump activity which causes discontinuation of circulation and disruption ofthe heart contractionseffectiveness, thus a proper care is needed by using Basic Life Support Health Education. This research aims to find out the effect of basic life health support education toward students’ knowledge in providing emergency care to cardiac arrest case at SMK N 2 Sukawati. Pre-experimental is use in this research with one-group pre-post-test design and total sampling as the sampling technique used.The number of samples were 33 samples. The research has been done in April-May 2019. The questionnaire of basic life support health education was used in collecting the data. The result of this research shows that the students’ knowledge before being given basic life support health education stood at poor category which was 19 students (57.6 %). After the students were given basic life support health education, the result showed that the knowledge were improve which is 16 people (48.5%) in the good category. p-value =0.000 < (0.05) was obtained through the result of this research which was assessed by using Wilcoxon statistic assessment. Hence, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of basic life health support educationtoward students’ knowledge in providing emergency care to cardiac arrest case at SMK N 2 Sukawati. It is recommended to give the knowledge for the students a knowledge about basic life support health education a regular training by professional to make them able to give emergency care to Cardiac Arrest happened in tourism sector and surroundings.
