Abstract
Dental caries is a pathological process that occurs because of the interaction of factors in the mouth that are directly related to the process of caries. These factors include: tooth structure, tooth morphology, composition of the teeth, saliva, oral hygiene, amount and frequency of eating cariogenic foods. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of dental caries in patients visiting the UPT. Banjarangkan I Health Center, Klungkung Regency, 2018. This research is a descriptive study by collecting data from patient visit registers. The study population was all patients who visited the UPT. Banjarangkan I Health Center in Klungkung Regency in 2018. Based on the results of research conducted on the dental patient register, there were 2420 patients visiting the UPT. The Banjarangkan I Health Center in Klungkung Regency in 2018 found that the frequency of dental caries was 2927 cases. Based on the age group with the highest age of 20-54, there were 1081 cases (36.93%) Based on sex, women were higher than men, which was 1899 cases (64.88%). The average dental caries reaches 1.21 with a low category. And the teeth most often affected by caries are the first molars. The conclusion of this study is the average dental caries in the UPT. Banjarangkan I Puskesmas is in the low category. It is recommended to officers to continue to carry out promotive efforts. Keywords: dental caries, frequency, average, low
