Abstract
Dental health is important because digestion of food starts with the help of teeth. Dental and oral diseases that are suffered by many people in Indonesia are diseases of the buffer and dental caries. Tooth holes or dental caries is a disease that attacks the oral cavity due to bacterial damage to the hard tissue of the teeth. Damage to dental tissue if it is not immediately followed up will spread. Tooth holes that are left behind will cause pain in the teeth, infection of the gums, tooth loss, and even death. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge about dental caries in fifth grade students of SDN 12 Dauh Puri. This research is a descriptive study to explain the level of knowledge of fifth grade students of SDN 12 Dauh Puri. This study used a sample of 37 students. The data used in this study are primary data using questionnaire instruments. The results of the study about the level of knowledge about dental caries with criteria as good as 1 person with a percentage of 2.71%, good criteria as many as 1 person with a percentage of 2.71%, sufficient criteria as many as 5 people with a percentage of 13.51%, criteria less than 14 people with a percentage of 37.83%, and failing criteria as many as 16 people with a percentage of 43.24%. It can be concluded that the average level of knowledge about dental caries of fifth grade students at SDN 12 Dauh Puri is 49.19 which is classified as a failure criterion.
