Abstract

RELATIONSHIP WITH TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS BLOOD PRESSURE DEGREES IN HYPERTENSION ELDERY AT PUSKESMAS KERAMBITAN II, 2023 ABSTRACT Cholesterol is a complex problem in the human body. Narrowing and stiffness of the walls of blood vessels as a result of cholesterol buildup in blood vessels causes blood pressure to increase. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between total cholesterol levels and blood pressure degrees in elderly hypertension at the Kerambitan II Health Center in 2023. This type of research used an observational method with a survey method/crosssectional design. The sample in this study were 62 respondents. Blood pressure was measured using a manual sphygmomanometer/sphygmomanometer, while cholesterol levels were measured from the Easy Touch GCU examination. The results obtained in the data analysis showed that of the 62 respondents, the majority of 51 respondents had high cholesterol levels and a percentage of 82.3%, and systolic blood pressure was in the 1st degree hypertension category with a total of 50 respondents and a percentage of 80.6% and diastolic blood pressure in the Pre Hypertension category with a total of 32 respondents and a percentage of 51.6%. From the results of the cholesterol level correlation test with systolic blood pressure, it is known that the p-value using the Person test yields a result of 0.253 or greater than the value of 0.05 and the correlation level value is 0.147, and the correlation test of cholesterol level with diastolic blood pressure is known that the p-value using the Person test yields a result of 0.523 or greater than the value of 0.05 and a correlation level value of 0.083, both values are not significant.
