Abstract

THE EFFECT OF GYM BALL EXERCISE ON LOW BACK PAIN INTENSITY OF THIRD TRIMESTER PREGNANCY AT BUMI SEHAT CLINIC ABSTRACK The changes and adaptations that occur during pregnancy will generally cause discomfort to pregnant women, the discomfort felt by pregnant women usually varies in each trimester of pregnancy and is often a complaint of pregnant women, including nausea, vomiting in early pregnancy, constipation, varicose veins (veins), urinary disorders, hemorrhoids, and swelling of the legs and feet and back pain. One of the relaxation techniques and non-pharmacological measures to deal with pain during pregnancy and childbirth is to use a gym ball. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test with control group research design using two groups, where one group was given treatment and the other group was used as a control group. This study used a non-probability sampling technique with a type of sampling, namely purposive sampling, with a total sample of 34 people (17 control groups and 17 intervention groups). The results of the Man Whitney U-test obtained a p-value of 0.004 (p <0.05) which means that there is an effect of gym ball training on the intensity of low back pain in third trimester pregnant women. Based on the results of the research above, it is suggested that gym ball exercises can be used as an alternative to reduce the intensity of low back pain. Keywords: low back pain; gym ball; pregnancy PENGARUH LATIHAN GYM BALL TERHADAP INTENSITAS NYERI PUNGGUNG BAWAH PADA IBU HAMIL TRIMESTER III DI KLINIK BUMI SEHAT ABSTRAK Perubahan dan adaptasi yang terjadi selama kehamilan umumnya akan menimbulkan ketidaknyamanan pada ibu hamil,rasa tidak nyaman yang dirasakan oleh ibu hamil biasanya berbeda-beda pada setiap trimester kehamilan dan sering kali menjadi keluhan bagi ibu hamil, salah satunya yaitu nyeri punggung bawah pada ibu hamil trimester III. Salah satu tehnik relaksasi dan tindakan nonfarmakologi dalam penanganan nyeri saat kehamilan dan persalinan adalah dengan menggunakan gym ball. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimental dengan desain penelitian pre-test and post-test with control group dengan menggunakan dua kelompok, dimana satu kelompok diberi perlakuan dan kelompok lain sebagai kelompok kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teknik sampling non probability sampling dengan jenis sampling yaitu purposive sampling, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 34 orang (17 kelompok kontrol dan 17 kelompok intervensi). Hasil uji Man Whitney U-Test didapatkan p-value 0,004 (p<0,05) yang berarti ada pengaruh latihan gym ball terhadap intensitas nyeri punggung bawah pada ibu hamil trimester III. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas maka disarankan agar latihan gym ball dapat dijadikan alternatif untuk mengurangi intensitas nyeri punggung bawah.
