Abstract
Birth weight is a reflection of the health and nutritional status of the mother during pregnancy and the antenatal care received. Low birth weight (BBLR) is a birth weight of less than 2500 grams. Factors that cause a baby to be born with BBLR are the age of the pregnant woman, pregnancy distance, parity, hemoglobin (Hb) level, nutritional status of the pregnant woman, ANC examination and education. The main cause of anemia in pregnant women is iron deficiency. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between compliance of iron tablet consumption in pregnant women with birth weight in the working area of UPTD the Rendang health center, Karangasem Regency. The type of research is observational, with a cross sectional research design, the research sample was 68 people. Data were collected by interview method and quoting as well as recording data from the KIA book. Data presented in frequency table and cross table analyzed by Pearson Correlation Test. Based on the results of the study, it was found that 46 mothers (67,6%) who had adherence to the consumption of iron tablets in the obedient category and 22 people (32,4%) in the non-compliant category. Most babies were born with normal birth weight as many as 65 people (95,6%) and babies born with low weight as many as 3 people (4,4%). There is a relationship between iron tablet consumption compliance with birth weight (p = 0.010) and (r = -0.311). Pregnant women who were not compliant in taking iron tablets gave birth to babies with low birth weight (BBLR). Keywords: BBLR, iron tablets, compliance, pregnant women
