Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN ACTIVE SMOKERS IN SENGKIDU VILLAGE, MANGGIS DISTRICT, KARANGASEM ABSTRACT Total cholesterol was the total blood fat in the human body. The increase of cholesterol levels influence levels are age, sex, duration of smoking, and frequency of smoking. Nicotine, carbon monoxide, tar and lead contained in cigarettes can cause total cholesterol levels to increase. This study aims to determine total cholesterol levels in active smokers in Sengkid Village, Manggis District, Karangasem Regency based on the characteristics of age, smoking duration, and smoking frequency. Type of research used is descriptive research with purposive sampling technique. The sample used in this study were 43 active male smokers and total cholesterol levels were examined using the POCT method. The total cholesterol level of active smokers in Sengkidu Village is in the normal category <200 mg/dL for 23 people (53%), threshold (200-239 mg/dL) for 16 people (33%), and high (> 240 mg/dL) many as 4 people (14%). Description of total cholesterol levels in active smokers in Sengkidu Village, Manggis District, Karangasem Regency the majority have normal cholesterol levels. Keywords: total cholesterol levels, active smokers GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PEROKOK AKTIF DI DESA SENGKIDU KECAMATAN MANGGIS KABUPATEN KARANGASEM ABSTRAK Kolesterol total merupakan total keseluruhan lemak darah yang berada dalam tubuh manusia. Faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya peningkatan kadar kolesterol yaitu usia, lama merokok, dan frekuensi merokok. Nikotin, karbon monoksida, tar, dan timah yang terkandung pada rokok dapat menyebabkan kadar kolesterol total meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar kolesterol total pada perokok aktif di Desa Sengkidu Kecamatan Manggis Kabupaten Karangasem berdasarkan karakteristik usia, lama merokok, dan frekuensi merokok. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif degan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini sebanyak 43 responden perokok aktif laki-laki dan pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total menggunakan metode POCT. Kadar kolesterol total perokok aktif di Desa Sengkidu pada kategori normal yaitu <200 mg/dL sebanyak 23 orang (53%), ambang batas (200-239 mg/dL ) sebanyak 16 orang (33%), dan tinggi (>240 mg/dL) sebanyak 4 orang (14%). Gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada perokok aktif di Desa Sengkidu Kecamatan Manggis Kabupaten Karangasem mayoritas memiliki kadar kolesterol normal.
