Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF ELDERLY DENTAL HYGIENE IN THE WORK AREA OF THE TEJAKULA I HEALTH CENTER BULELENG IN 2023 ABSTRACT Every human being experiences a natural aging process that involves very complex changes in the tissues and organs of the body, including changes in the teeth in the oral cavity. This study aims to find out the description of Dental Hygiene in the Elderly in the Work Area of the Tejakula I Buleleng Health Center in 2023. The type of research used is descriptive research, with an approach cross sectional. The population is 93 elderly aged 60-74 years, with a sample of 83 elderly using a random sampling technique purposive sampling. Based on the results of the research on the characteristics of the respondents, the majority of the elderly were female as many as 55 respondents (66.3%), the majority of the elderly with an education level not graduating from elementary school were as many as 42 respondents (50.6%), and the majority of the elderly worked as farmers as many as 35 respondents (42 ,2%). The majority of the elderly had untreated dental caries in the moderate category with 1-2 carious teeth as many as 40 respondents (48.2%). The majority of the elderly brush their teeth 2-3 times a day as many as 58 respondents (69.9%). The majority of the elderly are dominated by brushing their teeth while bathing as many as 80 respondents (96.4%). Overall, 83 respondents were dominated by the behavior of maintaining sufficient dental hygiene, such as brushing their teeth 2-3 times a day, but were mistaken in determining the right time to brush their teeth. The elderly are expected to be able to maintain the cleanliness of their teeth by brushing their teeth at least 2 times a day after breakfast and before going to bed at night. Keywords: elderly, health, teeth GAMBARAN KEBERSIHAN GIGI PADA LANSIA DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS TEJAKULA I BULELENG TAHUN 2023 ABSTRAK Setiap manusia mengalami proses penuaan alami yang melibatkan perubahan sangat kompleks pada jaringan dan organ tubuh, termasuk perubahan pada gigi di rongga mulut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Gambaran Kebersihan Gigi pada Lansia di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Tejakula I Buleleng Tahun 2023. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian deskriptif, dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi sebanyak 93 lansia berusia 60-74 tahun, dengan sampel sebanyak 83 lansia menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian karakteristik responden, mayoritas lansia berjenis kelamin perempuan sebanyak 55 responden (66,3%), mayoritas lansia dengan tingkat pendidikan tidak tamat SD sebanyak 42 responden (50,6%), dan mayoritas lansia bekerja sebagai petani sebanyak 35 responden (42,2%). Mayoritas lansia memiliki karies gigi belum dirawat pada kategori sedang dengan jumlah gigi karies 1-2 buah sebanyak 40 responden (48,2%). Mayoritas lansia menyikat gigi 2-3 kali sehari sebanyak 58 responden (69,9%). Mayoritas lansia didominasi menyikat gigi saat mandi sebanyak 80 responden (96,4%). Secara keseluruhan 83 responden, didominasi memiliki perilaku memelihara kebersihan gigi yang cukup, seperti menyikat gigi 2-3 kali sehari, namun keliru dalam menentukan waktu menyikat gigi yang tepat. Lansia diharapkan mampu menjaga kebersihan giginya dengan menyikat gigi minimal 2 kali sehari saat setelah sarapan pagi dan sebelum tidur malam. Kata kunci: lansia, kesehatan, gigi
