Abstract

Adolescent behavior in choosing and appreciating food is influenced by about food. Most teenagers consume an unbalanced diet and lack fiber consumption. This behavior can cause nutritional problems in adolescents. One of the nutritional problems in adolescents is obesity. Based on the 2018 Basic Health Research, it was found that 9.5% of adolescents were overweight and 4.0% were obese. One of the causes is the low consumption of fruits and vegetables, as many as 95.4% of children aged > 5 years consume less fruits and vegetables than is recommended. One side of fruit and vegetables is a good contributor of fiber and is highly recommended. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and fiber consumption with status. This type of research is observational with a cross sectional research design. The research sample was 63 samples. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire, form SQ-FFQ, weighing weight and weighing height. The results showed that as many as 44.4% of the sample with the category of lack of knowledge. The fiber consumption of most of the samples in the less category was 68.2%. A total of 25.4% of the samples were obese. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and fiber consumption p<0.05 (p=0.035). There was no significant relationship between fiber consumption and obesity status p>0.05 (p=0.177).
