Abstract

RELATIONSHIP OF NUTRITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, JUNK FOOD CONSUMPTION PATTERNS TO THE EVENT OF OBESITY IN ADOLESCENTS AT SMA NEGERI 1 KEDIRI ABSTRACT In Indonesia, the current nutritional problem is malnutrition, but the problem of overnutrition has started to appear together (double burden). Obesity/overweight or commonly known as overweight is a problem that is quite worrying among teenagers. One of the factors that can affect obesity/overweight can be from diet. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nutritional knowledge of junk food consumption patterns and the incidence of obesity in adolescents at SMA 1 Kediri. This type of research is observational using a cross sectional approach. Sample size of this study were 84 students. Variables were collected using the SQ-FFQ form method, filling out questionnaires and measuring height and weight. Data is presented with frequency tables and cross tables and then analyzed using Spearmans correlation. The results showed 41 samples (48.8%) with sufficient knowledge, based on the incidence of obesity 37 samples (44.0%) were obese. The incidence of obesity based on the type of junk food in many categories, namely 74 samples (88.1%), the incidence of obesity based on the amount of high energy consumption was 39 samples (46.6%), the number of high protein intake was 37 samples (44.0%), the number of high fat intake was 46 samples (54.8%), the number of high carbohydrate intake was 52 samples (61.9%). The incidence of obesity based on the frequency of frequent food consumption was 66 samples (78.6%). From the results of the Spearmans correlation analysis, it shows that there is a relationship between nutritional knowledge and the incidence of obesity (p.value = 0.000), there is no relationship between the type of consumption of junk food and the incidence of obesity (p value = 0.105), there is a relationship between energy consumption and the incidence of obesity (p.value = 0.002). there is no relationship between protein consumption and obesity (p.value = 0.104), there is a relationship between fat consumption and obesity (p.value = 0.011), there is a relationship between carbohydrate consumption and obesity (p.value = 0.005), there is a relationship between the frequency of consumption of junk food with the incidence of obesity (p.value = 0.001). Keywords: Knowledge of nutrition, consumption patterns, incidence of obesity
