Abstract
Cholesterol is suffered by a lot of the elderly, due to the age factor the longer the body will be more lazy to move, so that cholesterol in the body will accumulate in the liver. The purpose of the study was to determine total cholesterol levels in the elderly in Gadungan Village, Selemadeg Timur District in 2022. This research method was a descriptive study conducted in May-June 2022 with a total of 31 respondents. Total cholesterol levels were measured by the Point Of Care Testing (POCT) method. The results showed that 31 respondents (58%) had normal total cholesterol levels, (29%) in the moderately high category, (13%) in the high category. Abnormal cholesterol is more commonly found in the age range of 75-90 years and is more experienced by elderly women (32%). Based on the consumption of fatty foods (58%) the elderly category sometimes consumes fatty foods. Based on physical activity (58%) the elderly are routinely physically active. The conclusion is that most of the elderly have normal total cholesterol levels. Abnormal cholesterol levels are more common in elderly women, (19%) elderly including frequent consumption of fatty foods and (26%) elderly including not routine physical activity have abnormal cholesterol levels.
