Abstract

Ascariasis is a disease caused by infection with soil-transmitted helminth eggs, which leads to reduced productivity and learning concentration among children and adolescents. Properly washing raw vegetables before serving is a way to prevent ascariasis. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between vegetable washing methods and the presence of worm eggs in food stalls; the research design was a cross-sectional study. Observations were conducted using the Epicollect5 app, and the presence of worm eggs was confirmed through laboratory testing. The Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05) was used to analyze the data univariately and bivariately. The study results showed that 99% of samples tested positive for worm eggs. Analysis was performed using Fisher’s Exact Test, with the following results: vegetable washing method (p-value 1.000), washing technique (p-value 0.067), frequency and duration of washing (p-value 0.133), food handler hygiene (p-value 1.000). This indicates that there is no significant association between the method of washing raw vegetables and the presence of worm eggs at food stalls in the Liliba neighborhood of Kupang City. Bivariate analysis showed that the p-values were greater than 0.05. The total number of raw vegetables with “No Worm Eggs” was found in only one food stall (3.3%), while a total of 29 food stalls (96.7%) still contained worm eggs. Keywords: Raw vegetables, worm eggs, food stalls Ascariasis adalah penyakit oleh infeksi telur Soil Transmitted Helminths yang menyebabkan penurunan produktivitas dan konsentrasi belajar pada kelompok anak-anak dan remaja. Pencucian lalapan dengan benar sebelum disajikan merupakan cara untuk mencegah Ascariasis. Tujuan penelitian mengetahui hubungan antara cara mencuci sayur dengan keberadaan telur cacing di warung makan, metode penelitian pendekatan cross-sectional. Observasi menggunakan aplikasi epicollect5, keberadaan telur cacing diperiksa melalui pemeriksaan laboratorium. Uji statistik Chi-Square dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95% (α = 0,05) digunakan untuk menganalisis data secara univariat dan bivariat. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 99% positif telur cacing. Metode analisis menggunakan uji Fisher's Exact Test dengan hasil variabel cara pencucian sayur p-value 1,000, teknik pencucian p-value 0,067, jumlah dan lama waktu pencucian p-value 0,133, higyene penjamah makanan p-value 1,000.Menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara cara mencuci sayur lalapan dan keberadaan telur cacing di warung makan di Kelurahan Liliba Kota Kupang. Analisis bivariat menunjukkan bahwa nilai p-value lebih besar dari 0,05.Jumlah total sayur lalapan "Tidak Ada Telur" hanya satu warung makan atau 3,3 %, dan total 29 warung makan dengan 96,7% masih mengandung telur cacing.
