Abstract
Adolescent mental health is a health issue that requires attention because it can affect adolescents’ physical, psychological, social, and academic development. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that approximately one in seven adolescents aged 10–19 years experiences a mental disorder. The Indonesia National Adolescent Mental Health Survey (I-NAMHS) 2022 reported that 34.9% of adolescents experience mental health problems. Peer support is considered one of the factors that may influence adolescent mental health. This study aimed to determine the relationship between peer roles and adolescent mental health at SMP Sapta Andika Denpasar. This study employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 68 eighth-grade students selected using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The instruments used were a peer role questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability and the Self-Reporting Questionnaire-29 (SRQ-29). Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 50% of respondents had low peer roles and 50% had high peer roles. Bivariate analysis indicated no significant relationship between peer roles and emotional mental disorders (p=0.808), psychotic symptoms (p=0.332), or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (p=0.223). It was concluded that there was no significant relationship between peer roles and adolescent mental health among students at Junior High School Sapta Andika Denpasar. Keywords: peer role, mental health, adolescents Kesehatan mental remaja merupakan masalah kesehatan yang perlu mendapat perhatian karena dapat memengaruhi perkembangan fisik, psikologis, sosial, dan akademik remaja. Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) menyatakan bahwa sekitar 1 dari 7 remaja usia 10–19 tahun mengalami gangguan mental. Indonesia National Adolescent Mental Health Survey (I-NAMHS) tahun 2022 menunjukkan bahwa 34,9% remaja mengalami masalah kesehatan mental. Teman sebaya (peer) merupakan salah satu faktor yang diduga berperan dalam kesehatan mental remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan peran peer dengan kesehatan mental remaja di SMP Sapta Andika Denpasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuantitatif korelasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 68 siswa kelas VIII yang dipilih menggunakan teknik proportionate stratified random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu kuesioner peran peer yang telah teruji validitas dan reabilitasnya dan Self Reporting Questionnaire-29 (SRQ-29). Analisis data menggunakan uji Chi-Square dan hasil penelitian menunjukkan peran peer rendah dan tinggi masing-masing sebesar 50%. Hasil analisis bivariat menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara peran peer dengan gangguan mental emosional (p=0,808), gejala psikotik (p=0,332), maupun PTSD (p=0,223). Disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara peran peer dengan kesehatan mental remaja di SMP Sapta Andika Denpasar. Kata kunci: peran peer, kesehatan mental, remaja
