Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF DENTAL CARIES AMONG PKK MOTHERS IN AWAN VILLAGE KINTAMANI DISTRICT BANGLI REGENCY IN 2026 ABSTRACT Low public awareness of maintaining oral hygiene is a primary factor contributing to the high incidence of caries. This study aimed to determine the profile of dental caries among PKK women (Family Welfare Movement) in Awan Village, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency, in 2026. This was a descriptive study utilizing a survey design. The population consisted of all 150 PKK women in Awan Village, from which a sample of 60 respondents was selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through direct clinical examinations using a diagnostic set and interviews. The results showed that the majority of respondents experienced dental caries, accounting for 53 people (88.3%), while 7 people (11.7%) were caries-free. The mean dental caries index was 3.38, which falls into the moderate category. Based on age, the highest caries index was found in the 36–46 age group at 3.67, while the lowest was in the 47–57 age group at 2.91. Based on education level, the highest caries index was observed at the primary school level at 4.00, and the lowest was at the junior high school level at 3.00. In conclusion, 53 PKK women experienced dental caries, with an overall mean dental caries index of 3.38, categorized as moderate. The highest caries index by age was in the 36–46 age group with an average of 3.67, and the highest by education level was at the primary school level with an average of 4.00. Keywords: dental caries, PKK, oral health GAMBARAN KARIES GIGI PADA IBU PKK DESA AWAN KECAMATAN KINTAMANI KABUPATEN BANGLI TAHUN 2026 ABSTRAK Rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat dalam menjaga kebersihan gigi dan mulut menjadi salah satu faktor utama tingginya angka kejadian karies. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran karies gigi pada ibu PKK di Desa Awan Kecamatan Kintamani Kabupaten Bangli Tahun 2026. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan desain survei. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh ibu PKK di Desa Awan sebanyak 150 orang, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 60 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pemeriksaan langsung menggunakan diagnostic set serta wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden mengalami karies gigi yaitu sebanyak 53 orang (88,3%), sedangkan yang tidak mengalami karies sebanyak 7 orang (11,7%). Rata- rata karies gigi sebesar 3,38 termasuk kategori sedang. Berdasarkan usia, karies tertinggi terdapat pada kelompok 36–46 tahun sebesar 3,67 dan terendah pada usia 47–57 tahun sebesar 2,91. Berdasarkan pendidikan, karies tertinggi pada tingkat SD sebesar 4,00 dan terendah pada SMP sebesar 3,00. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan ibu PKK mengalami karies sebanyak 53 orang dengan rata – rata karies gigi 3,38 dalam kategori sedang. Karies berdasarkan usia tertinggi yaitu 36- 46 tahun dengan rata-rata 3,67 dan karies berdasarkan pendidikan tertinggi tingkat SD dengan rata-rata 4,00.
