Abstract

One of the reproductive health problems that are often experienced by women is menstrual disorders. Menstrual cycle disorders that commonly occur are polymenorrhea, oligomenorrhea and amenorrhea. Menstrual cycle disorders can be caused by the use of contraceptives. Intrauterine contraception (IUD) is the most effective method of contraception for spacing pregnancies because the IUD failure rate is very low. This study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of the use of intrauterine contraceptives (CuT 380A) with the menstrual cycle in the independent practice of the midwife Ni Putu Ratna Dewi Ningsih in 2021. This type of research used quantitative analytical methods with a cross sectional design from 1 May to 1 June 2021 with purposive sampling. The sample was 57 acceptors of the CuT 380A IUD using a questionnaire. Data analysis using univariate in the form of frequency distribution and bivariate using Chi Square with a significance level of p <0.05. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the use of the CuT 380A IUD with the menstrual cycle in the Independent Practice of Midwife Ni Putu Ratna Dewi Ningsih (p=0.002). Midwives need to take an intrapersonal approach to IUD acceptors as well as a basis for improving services and education. (KIE) counseling about menstrual patterns to IUD acceptors so that acceptors understand about changes in the menstrual cycle that occur.
