Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF CURRENT BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS IN THE ELDERLY IN BAYUNGGEDE VILLAGE, KINTAMANI DISABILITY,BANGLI DISTRICT ABSTRACT Objective: Blood glucose level is the concentration of glucose in the blood which fluctuates or changes over time which is influenced by many factors, one of which is age. Increased blood sugar levels in the elderly can occur due to physical inactivity, resulting in poor serum lipoprotein profiles and increased peripheral insulin resistance, which is a risk factor for Diabetes Mellitus. Method: This research is a descriptive study which was conducted in March 2021. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the blood sugar levels in the elderly in Bayunggede Village, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency. Subject: 35 elderly people with a purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained by means of questionnaires and observation using the POCT tool brand Easy Touch GCU enzymatic glucose oxidase method. Result: The results of this study were as many as (14.3%) elderly people had blood sugar levels while in the Low category, as much as (34.3%) in the Normal category and as much as (51.4) in the high category. The lowest blood sugar level was 81 mg / dL, the highest was 191 mg / dL so it was in the High category. Conclusions: Based on the characteristics of the elderly, the results of high blood glucose levels were found in respondents aged 75-95 years (old age) as much as 28.6%, high blood glucose levels in respondents with a frequency of eating 2-3 times a day as much as 37.1% and Blood glucose levels when high in respondents have a history of DM in the family, namely there is no history of DM in the family as much as 37.1% Key words: blood sugar levels, elderly, Diabetes Mellitus.
