Abstract
Housewife in Punggul village has not all done a garbage screening before tossed into the trash can. The lack of knowledge and the availability of temporary bins made mother dump behind a yard or vacant lot and still many burn up the garbage. Purpose of this study is to know relationship of knowledge level and trash bins availability with housewife action in garbage sorting. Type of research used was analogous surveys using cross sectional. Sample is that households number 91 by being hand-chosen random sampling. Based on the chi square test results from knowledge level relationship with act of housewife are found as evidence of ρ 0,000 < α = 0,05 and value cc =.486 as testing chi square results from accessibility of place with election of trash can result from an estimated ρ 0,000 < α = 0,05 and value cc = 0.615, means there is a relation to knowledge level and availability of a trash can. There is still a housewife who knows and action as a housewife in a considerable category of litter. It is expected that rural administrators do socializing, counseling, training on garbage, household management methods to the public. Key words: knowledge, action, garbage sorting
