Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF URIC ACID LEVELS IN PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS AT RSUD Bali Mandara ABSTRACT Pulmonary tuberculosis is an infectious disease that remains a global health problem, and the use of anti-tuberculosis drugs (ATDs), particularly pyrazinamide and ethambutol, may increase the risk of hyperuricemia due to impaired uric acid excretion. This study aimed to describe uric acid levels in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at RSUD Bali Mandara. This study employed a descriptive research design involving 64 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. The collected data included primary data in the form of uric acid level examinations using the Point of Care Test method and respondent characteristics obtained through interviews. The results showed that the majority of pulmonary tuberculosis patients undergoing ATD therapy had high uric acid levels, accounting for 59 respondents (92.2%), with an average of 9.5mg/dL, a high of 12.4 mg/dL, and a low of 4.8 mg/dL. High uric acid levels were most commonly found among respondents aged 56–65 years, with 19 respondents (100%), male respondents with 33 respondents (91.7%), respondents undergoing intensive phase treatment for 0–2 months with 46 respondents (97.9%), respondents with normal body mass index with 53 respondents (93%), and respondents categorized as rarely consuming high-purine foods with 31 respondents (91.2%). These findings indicate that most pulmonary tuberculosis patients undergoing ATD therapy experienced elevated uric acid levels; therefore, regular monitoring of uric acid levels is necessary to prevent complications and improve treatment outcomes. Keywords: Pulmonary tuberculosis, Uric acid levels GAMBARAN KADAR ASAM URAT PADA PASIEN TUBERKULOSIS PARU DI RUMAH SAKIT UMUM DAERAH BALI MANDARA ABSTRAK Tuberkulosis paru merupakan penyakit infeksi menular yang masih menjadi masalah kesehatan global, dan penggunaan obat anti tuberkulosis (OAT), khususnya pirazinamid dan etambutol, berisiko menyebabkan hiperurisemia akibat gangguan ekskresi asam urat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar asam urat pada pasien TB paru di RSUD Bali Mandara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 64 responden yang diambil menggunakan teknik total sampling. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi data primer berupa pemeriksaan kadar asam urat menggunakan metode Point Of Care Test serta karakteristik responden melalui wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar pasien tuberkulosis paru yang menjalani terapi OAT memiliki kadar asam urat kategori tinggi, yaitu sebanyak 59 orang (92,2%), dengan rerata 9,5mg/dL, kadar tertinggi 12,4 mg/dL, dan kadar terendah 4,8 mg/dL. Kadar asam urat tinggi paling banyak ditemukan pada kelompok usia 56–65 tahun sebanyak 19 orang (100%), berjenis kelamin laki-laki sebanyak 33 orang (91,7%), menjalani pengobatan fase intensif 0–2 bulan sebanyak 46 orang (97,9%), memiliki indeks massa tubuh normal sebanyak 53 orang (93%), serta termasuk kategori jarang mengonsumsi makanan tinggi purin sebanyak 31 orang (91,2%). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pasien TB paru yang menjalani terapi OAT mengalami peningkatan kadar asam urat sehingga diperlukan pemantauan kadar asam urat secara berkala untuk mencegah terjadinya komplikasi dan meningkatkan keberhasilan pengobatan.
