Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE FREQUENCY OF HIGH-PURINE FOOD CONSUMPTION AND URIC ACID LEVELS AMONG THE ELDERLY IN DALUNG TRADITIONAL VILLAGE, BADUNG REGENCY ABSTRACT Backround: Aging increases the risk of degenerative diseases such as hyperuricemia in the elderly, which is influenced by the consumption of high-purine foods. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the frequency of high-purine food consumption and uric acid levels among the elderly in Dalung Traditional Village, Badung Regency. Methods: This study employed a quantitative analytic design with a cross-sectional approach involving 73 participants selected using purposive sampling. The data collected were primary data, including age, gender, frequency of high-purine food consumption, and uric acid levels. Examination of uric acid levels usin the POCT (Point of Care Testing) method. Data analysis using Spearmen Rank test. Results: The results showed that most respondents were in the age groups of 56–65 years and >65 years (each 39.7%), with a relatively balanced gender distribution. The majority of the elderly had high uric acid levels (79.5%), while 20.5% were within the normal range. The frequency of high-purine food consumption was predominantly in the frequent category (75.3%) compared to the rare category (24.7%). Spearman Rank test results indicated a significant relationship between the frequency of high-purine food consumption and uric acid levels (p = 0.000; p < 0.05), with a correlation coefficient of 0.653, indicating a strong positive relationship. Conclusion: This suggests that the higher the frequency of high-purine food consumption, the higher the uric acid levels among the elderly. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara frekuensi konsumsi makanan tinggi purin dengan kadar asam urat pada lansia di Desa Adat Dalung, Kabupaten Badung. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif analitik dengan desain cross-sectional pada 73 orang yang dipilih menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah Data primer meliputi usia, jenis kelamin , frekuensi konsumsi makanan tinggi purin dan kadar asam urat. Pemeriksaan kadar asam urat menggunakan metode POCT (Point Care of Testing). Analisis data menggunakan uji Spearman Rank. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar responden berada pada kelompok usia 56–65 tahun dan >65 tahun (masing-masing 39,7%), dengan distribusi jenis kelamin relatif seimbang. Mayoritas lansia memiliki kadar asam urat tinggi (79,5%), sedangkan 20,5% berada pada kategori normal. Frekuensi konsumsi makanan tinggi purin didominasi kategori sering (75,3%) dibandingkan jarang (24,7%). Hasil uji Spearman Rank menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara frekuensi konsumsi makanan tinggi purin dengan kadar asam urat (p = 0,000; p < 0,05), dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,653 yang menunjukkan hubungan kuat dan positif. Simpulan: Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin sering konsumsi makanan tinggi purin, maka semakin tinggi kadar asam urat pada lansia. Kata kunci: Asam urat, Konsumsi purin, Lansia
