Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Instant coffee consumption is increasingly popular among adolescents and is often accompanied by added sweeteners, which may influence blood glucose levels. Objective: This study aims to describe the random blood glucose levels of adolescents who consume instant coffee at SMA Negeri 9 Denpasar. Methods: A descriptive research method was employed using proportional stratified random sampling involving 43 respondents aged 15–17 years. Blood glucose levels were measured using the capillary blood method. Results: The results showed that 98% of respondents had random blood glucose levels within the normal range, while 2% were at the borderline level. Most respondents were male, 17 years old, had a normal Body Mass Index, consumed 1– 3 cups of instant coffee per day, and had been consuming coffee for over a month. Conclusion: It is concluded that moderate consumption of instant coffee does not appear to have a significant impact on the increase of random blood glucose levels in healthy adolescents. Nonetheless, monitoring instant coffee consumption habits remains advisable as a preventive measure against future metabolic risks. Keywords: random blood glucose, instant coffee ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Konsumsi kopi instan semakin populer di kalangan remaja dan sering disertai dengan penambahan pemanis, yang berpotensi memengaruhi kadar glukosa darah.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar glukosa darah sewaktu pada remaja yang mengonsumsi kopi instan di SMA Negeri 9 Denpasar. Metode:Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan teknik proportional stratified random sampling terhadap 43 responden berusia 15–17 tahun. Pemeriksaan kadar glukosa darah dilakukan melalui metode darah kapiler. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 98% responden memiliki kadar glukosa darah sewaktu dalam kategori normal, sementara 2% berada pada kategori ambang batas. Mayoritas responden berjenis kelamin laki-laki, berusia 17 tahun, memiliki Indeks Massa Tubuh normal, mengonsumsi 1–3 gelas kopi instan per hari, dan telah mengonsumsi kopi selama lebih dari satu bulan. Kesimpulan: Disimpulkan bahwa konsumsi kopi instan dalam jumlah moderat belum menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kadar glukosa darah sewaktu pada remaja sehat. Namun demikian, pengawasan terhadap kebiasaan konsumsi kopi instan tetap disarankan sebagai upaya pencegahan risiko gangguan metabolik di masa mendatang.
