Abstract

DIFFERENCES IN HEMOGLOBIN LEVELS IN EDTA BLOOD OF MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS EXAMINED IMMEDIATELY, AFTER TWO HOURS, AND AFTER SIX HOURS ABSTRACT Background: Hemoglobin level testing is important for detecting disorders such as anemia. Most laboratory errors occur during the pre-analytical phase, one of which is due to delays in sample testing. Such delays can affect hemoglobin results and lead to misinterpretation of test outcomes. Objective: To determine the differences in hemoglobin levels in venous blood samples with EDTA that are tested immediately, after a two-hour delay, and after a six-hour delay. Methods: This was an experimental study using a Posttest Only Control Group design and a cluster sampling technique. The sample consisted of 35 students from the Medical Laboratory Technology Study Program at Poltekkes Denpasar (3 males and 32 females). Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality, One-Way ANOVA for differences between groups, and the LSD test for confirmation. Results: The data were normally distributed and homogeneous (p > 0.05). The One-Way ANOVA test showed a significant difference in hemoglobin levels between the groups (p = 0.000 < 0.05). The LSD test indicated that all comparisons between the examination groups (immediate, two-hour, and six-hour delay) produced statistically significant results (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant difference in hemoglobin levels due to delays in testing time. The longer the delay, the greater the change in hemoglobin levels detected. Kesalahan laboratorium paling banyak terjadi pada tahap pra-analitik, salah satunya akibat penundaan pemeriksaan sampel. Penundaan ini dapat memengaruhi hasil hemoglobin dan menyebabkan kesalahan interpretasi hasil pemeriksaan. Tujuan: Mengetahui perbedaan kadar hemoglobin pada sampel darah vena dengan EDTA yang diperiksa segera, ditunda dua jam, dan enam jam. Metode: Penelitian eksperimental dengan desain Posttest Only Control Group menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. Sampel terdiri dari 35 mahasiswa Program Studi Teknologi Laboratorium Medis Poltekkes Denpasar (3 laki-laki, 32 perempuan). Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji Shapiro-Wilk untuk normalitas, Uji One-Way ANOVA untuk uji beda, dan uji LSD sebagai konfirmasi. Hasil: Data berdistribusi normal dan homogen (p > 0,05). Uji One Way-ANOVA menunjukkan perbedaan kadar hemoglobin yang signifikan antar kelompok (p = 0,000< 0,05). Uji LSD menunjukkan bahwa semua perbandingan antar kelompok pemeriksaan (segera, dua jam, dan enam jam) memberikan hasil yang bermakna (p < 0,05). Simpulan: Terdapat perbedaan signifikan kadar hemoglobin akibat penundaan waktu pemeriksaan. Semakin lama penundaan, semakin besar perubahan kadar hemoglobin yang terdeteksi.
