Abstract
ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF SEA GRAPES (Caulerpa sp) ETHANOL EXTRACT AGAINST BACTERIA Streptococcus sp ABSTRACT Background increasing cases of antibiotic resistance caused by Streptococcus sp bacteria are a challenge in handling infectious diseases in the respiratory tract. Excessive use of antibiotics, inappropriately accelerating the rate of resistance, Therefore, alternative treatment is carried out from natural ingredients, namely Sea grapes (Caulerpa sp) one of the green algae that are widely found in Indonesian waters, containing secondary metabolite compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenols which have the potential as antibacterial. This study was conducted to test the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of Sea grapes against Streptococcus sp. Purpose was to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of sea grapes (Caulerpa sp) against Streptococcus sp. bacteria. method is a Posttest Only Control Group design with purposive sampling. The data were analyzed for normality tests with the Shapiro Wilk test followed by homogeneity tests with the Levene's Statistic test, followed by the One Way ANOVA test, then continued with the Post Hoc Games - Howell test. Results of the most effective well method antibacterial test at a concentration of 20% averaged 2.28 mm in the weak category, and the dilution method antibacterial test results MIC is a concentration of 25%. Conclusion Sea grape ethanol extract has antibacterial activity againt the growth of streptococcus sp bacteria in the weak category. Keywords: Caulerpa sp, Antibacterial, Streptococcus sp. AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ETANOL ANGGUR LAUT (Caulerpa sp) TERHADAP BAKTERI Streptococcus sp ABSTRAK Latar Belakang meningkatnya kasus resistensi antibiotik yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Streptococcus sp menjadi tantangan dalam penanganan penyakit infeksi di saluran pernapasan. Penggunaan antibiotik secara berlebihan, tidak tepat mempercepat laju resistensi, Oleh karena itu dilakukan pengobatan alternatif dari bahan alam yaitu Anggur laut (Caulerpa sp) salah satu alga hijau yang banyak ditemukan di perairan Indonesia, mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin, fenol yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol Anggur laut terhadap Streptococcus sp. Tujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol Anggur laut (Caulerpa sp) terhadap bakteri Streptococcus sp. Metode penelitian eksperimen desain Posstest Only Control Group dengan purposive sampling. Data dianalisis uji normalitas dengan uji Shapiro wilk dilanjutkan dengan uji homogenitas, lalu uji Levene’s Statistic, dilanjutkan dengan uji One Way ANOVA, dilanjutkan dengan uji Post Hoc Games – Howell Hasil uji antibakteri metode sumuran yang paling efektif pada konsentrasi 20% rata-rata 2,28 mm kategori lemah, dan uji antibakteri metode dilusi hasil MIC yaitu konsentrasi 25%. Simpulan Ekstrak etanol Anggur laut memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus sp kategori lemah. Kata kunci: Anggur laut, Antibakteri, Streptococcus sp.
