Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-COMPASSION AND SELF MOTIVATION IN BREAST CANCER PATIENTS UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY AT BALI MANDARA GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2025 ABSTRACT Breast cancer is one of the types of cancer with a high incidence in Indonesia, including in Bali. One form of treatment that is commonly done is chemotherapy, but this procedure often causes physical and psychological side effects that can affect the patient's motivation to undergo it. Self-Compassion, or self-compassion, is believed to play a role in helping individuals deal with difficult situations, including when undergoing cancer treatment. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-compassion and self-motivation to undergo chemotherapy in breast cancer patients. The type of quantitative research with a correlation analytic design, the approach model is cross-sectional. Sample selection using purposive sampling technique, sample size 74 people. Self-compassion is measured using a self-compassion scale and self-motivation is measured using a valid and reliable self-motivation questionnaire, data analysis using Spearman Rank. The results of the study showed that 73 people (98.6%) had a moderate level of self compassion, all respondents (100%) had high self-motivation in undergoing chemotherapy with a p value = 0.049 (<0.05), a positive and significant relationship with an r value = 0.229 between self-compassion and self-motivation to undergo chemotherapy but was classified as weak. Keywords: Self-Compassion, Self-Motivation, Cancer HUBUNGAN SELF-COMPASSION DENGAN MOTIVASI DIRI PADA PASIEN KANKER PAYUDARA YANG MENJALANI KEMOTERAPI DI RSUD BALI MANDARA TAHUN 2025 ABSTRAK Kanker payudara merupakan salah satu jenis kanker dengan angka kejadian tinggi di Indonesia, termasuk di Bali. Salah satu bentuk penanganan yang umum dilakukan adalah kemoterapi, namun prosedur ini sering menimbulkan efek samping fisik maupun psikologis yang dapat memengaruhi motivasi pasien dalam menjalaninya. Self-Compassion, atau belas kasih terhadap diri sendiri diyakini berperan dalam membantu individu menghadapi situasi sulit, termasuk saat menjalani pengobatan kanker. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-compassion dengan motivasi diri melakukan kemoterapi pada pasien kanker payudara. Jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain analitik korelasi, model pendekatannya cross-sectional. Pemilihan sampel dengan teknik purposive sampling, besar sampel 74 orang. Welas kasih diri diukur menggunakan self compassion scale dan motivasi diri di ukur dengan kuesioner motivasi diri yang sudah valid dan reliabel, analisis data menggunakan Rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan 73 orang (98,6%) memiliki tingkat self-compassion sedang, seluruh responden (100%) memiliki motivasi diri yang tinggi dalam menjalani kemoterapi dengan nilai p value = 0,049 (<0,05), hubungan positif dan signifikan dengan nilai r = 0,229 antara self-compassion dengan motivasi diri melakukan kemoterapi namun tergolong lemah.
