Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF HYPERTENSION WITH URIC ACID LEVELS IN THE ELDERLY AT UPTD PUSKESMAS 1 DENPASAR SELATAN ABSTRACT Introduction: Hypertension can cause an increase in uric acid levels. This happens because in people with hypertension, the blood vessels leading to the kidneys can become blocked due to a buidup of uric acid crystals. As a result, kidney function is distruped and uric acid removal becomes ineffective, so that uric acid levels in the blood increase. Objective: The aims of this study was to determine the relationship between hypertension and uric acid levels in the elderly. Method: This research method is correlational with a cross sectional type of research. The population of this studi were elderly people at UPTD Puskesmas 1 Denpasar Selatan with a sample size of 44 respondents calculated using the Slovin formula. Results: The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between hypertension and uric acid levels in the elderly as shown by the significance result of P = 0
