Abstract

IMPLEMENTATION OF CHIN TUCK AGAINST RESISTANCE SWALLOWING THERAPY TO OVERCOME SWALLOWING DISORDERS IN NON-HEMORRHAGIC STROKE PATIENTS AT BANGLI HOSPITAL ABSTRACT Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke is a condition where the blood vessels in the brain are blocked, resulting in a reduced supply of O2 to the brain. Various complications occur in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients, including swallowing disorders. Swallowing disorders are caused by deficits in the function or structure of the pharynx, esophagus or mouth. One effort to overcome swallowing disorders in non-hemorrhagic stroke sufferers is chin tuck against resistance (CTAR) swallowing therapy. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing swallowing therapy (CTAR) to treat swallowing disorders in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. The research design is descriptive in the form of an in-depth case study. The research subject was Mr. L with a medical diagnosis of Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke. The results of the assessment Mr. L complained of difficulty swallowing, food remaining in the oral cavity, coughing before swallowing, coughing after eating and drinking, choking, unable to clean the oral cavity, food falling from the mouth, difficulty chewing, taking a long time to eat. The nursing diagnosis is swallowing disorders related to cranial nerve disorders. The intervention chosen was swallowing therapy (CTAR) which was carried out 2x/day in 15 minutes for 3 days with the criteria for improved swallowing status. The nursing evaluation used was SOAP with the result of increasing swallowing ability. To overcome swallowing disorders in Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke patients, it is recommended to use swallowing therapy (CTAR) because it is effective in improving the patient's swallowing ability.
