Abstract

EFFECT OF ACUPRESSURE THERAPY ON BLOOD GLUCOSE STABILITYIN THE ELDERLY WITH DIABETES MELLITUS IN THE WORK AREA PUSKESMAS II WEST DENPASAR ABSTRACT Non-communicable diseases are a serious health problem and receive special attention in the health sector. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia and caused by malfunctions in insulin or insulin secretion. The purpose of this study was to prove the effect of acupressure therapy on blood glucose stability in the elderly with diabetes mellitus. The type of research used was pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design with a non-probability sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The subjects of this study were elderly people with diabetes mellitus aged 60-74 years in the West Denpasar Health Center II Working Area with a total of 33 elderly respondents. Measuring blood glucose levels while using the Easy Touch GCU glucometer. Acupressure therapy is carried out by applying pressure to the body's acupoints ≤30 times the pressure, where the points used are SP 6 (Sanyinjiao) and ST 36 (Zusanli). This research was conducted twice a week for 3 weeks with a duration of 30 seconds-2 minutes at each point. Normality test using Shapiro-Wilk. The hypothesis test used is the paired t-test. The results of this study are that there is an effect of acupressure therapy on blood glucose stability in the elderly with diabetes mellitus in the West Denpasar Health Center II Working Area at p-value = 0.000 (<0.05) with an average pre-test blood glucose of 249,79 mg/day dL and post test 15,.15 mg/dL. The conclusion in this study is that there is an effect of acupressure therapy on blood glucose stability in the elderly with diabetes mellitus in the Working Area of the West Denpasar Health Center II. The suggestion is that it can be used as information for the elderly with diabetes mellitus to carry out acupressure therapy independently and for puskesmas it can be used as non-pharmacological therapy, namely acupressure therapy in stabilizing blood glucose in DM patients. Diabetes mellitus merupakan gangguan metabolisme yang ditandai dengan hiperglikemia dan disebabkan oleh malfungsi dalam insulin atau sekresi insulin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan pengaruh terapi akupresure terhadap kestabilan glukosa darah pada lansia dengan diabetes mellitus. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan pre-ekperimental dengan rancangan one-group pretest-posttest design dengan teknik non probability sampling yaitu purpose sampling. Subyek penelitian ini adalah lansia diabetes mellitus yang berusia 60-74 tahun di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat dengan jumlah responden lansia sebanyak 33 orang. Pengukuran kadar glukosa darah sewaktu dengan menggunakan glucometer Easy Touch GCU. Terapi Akupresure dilakukan dengan cara memberikan penekanan pada titik acupoint tubuh sebanyak ≤30 kali tekanan, dimana titik yang digunakan adalah titik SP 6 (Sanyinjiao) dan ST 36 (Zusanli). Penelitian ini dilakukan 2 kali dalam seminggu selama 3 minggu dengan durasi 30 detik-2 menit pada setiap titik. Uji normalitas menggunakan shapiro-Wilk. Uji hipotesis yang digunakan adalah uji paired t-test. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu terdapat pengaruh terapi akupresure terhadap kestabilan glukosa darah pada lansia dengan diabetes mellitus di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat pada p-value= 0,000 (<0,05) dengan dengan rata-rata glukosa darah pre test 249,79 mg/dL dan post test 152,15 mg/dL. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini yaitu ada pengaruh terapi akupresure terhadap kestabilan glukosa darah pada lansia dengan diabetes mellitus di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat yang. Sarannya yaitu dapat menjadi informasi bagi lansia dengan diabetes mellitus untuk melakukan terapi akupresure secara mandiri dan bagi puskesmas dapat dijadikan terapi non farmakologis yaitu terapi akupresure dalam menstabilkan glukosa darah pasien DM.
