Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF PROTEIN INTAKE, FAT AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS WITH THE INCIDENCE OF HYPERURICEMIA (LITERATURE REVIEW) ABSTRACT Hyperuricemia is a condition where uric acid levels in the blood increase by more than 7.0 mg/dl in men and more than 6.0 mg/dl in women. The prevalence of uric acid disease based on the diagnosis of health workers in Indonesia is 11.9% and based on diagnosis or symptoms 24.7%. Hyperuricemia is caused by changes in diet, genetic factors, age, excess weight, and also certain diseases that can increase uric acid levels. This study aims to determine the relationship of protein intake, fat and nutritional status with the incidence of hyperuricemia based on various literatures that exist. This study uses qualitative approach with library study method. The data was obtained from 6 journal literature which were then tabulated and analyzed. The subjects in this study were men and women where the youngest sample age was 15 years old and the oldest was 90 years old with the average sample age being over 45 years, most of the women who were the most sampled. Theoretically the percentage of uric acid incidence is usually more common in men aged 30 years and above and women the incidence of uric acid can increase during menopause. The most common category of hyperuricemia was hyperuricemia with a percentage of 86.95% and at least 21.4% of the sample count. Protein intake with the highest category is 51.34%, normal category 76.3% and protein intake is less the highest is 60.9%. Fat intake category is more the highest 93.8%, normal category 76.3% and fat intake is less the highest is 51.9%. Then most of the average sample had more nutritional status or obesity. The highest nutritional status is 60.8% and the highest obesity nutritional status is 81.2%, and the other two journals mention the nutritional status mostly under normal conditions. Of the 6journals, three journals stated there was a link between protein intake and hyperuricemia and three journals got the opposite result. Furthermore, two journals say that there is a link between fat intake and hyperuricemia and four journals say there is no link between fat and hyperuricemia. Then four journals said that there was a link between nutritional status and hyperuricemia and two journals said there was no link between nutritional status and hyperuricemia Key words: uric acid, protein intake, fat intake, and nutritional status
