Abstract
Pneumonia is a respiratory disease that can affect anyone of all ages, from children to the elderly. It can cause airway obstruction due to sputum production in the respiratory tract which results in hypoxia and death as the worst. This study is a descriptive study with a case study design that aim of conducting and analyzing nursing care for ineffective airway clearance in patients with pneumonia. Nursing care was given to two pneumonia patients with nursing problems in ineffective airway clearance in the ER Sanjiwani Hospital, Gianyar. The intervention provided is airway management, based on the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standard (SIKI), with a focus on intervention that is a combination of effective coughing and semi-Fowler's position. The expected outcome and outcome criteria based on the Indonesian Nursing Outcome Standard (SLKI) are increased airway clearance. The results obtained were that the nursing problems in both patients had not been resolved, patient 1 showed better results than patient 2 where patient 1 achieved three of the five evaluation criteria while patient 2 was only able to achieve two outcome criteria. It can be concluded that giving an effective cough and semi-Fowler's can help improve airway clearance, but the time to reach the goal depends on other health factors that the patient has.
