Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF OXYGEN SATURATION IN CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (COPD) PATIENTS AT KARANGASEM HOSPITAL IN 2021 ABSTRACT COPD is a progressive limitation of airflow and the presence of chronic inflammatory responses of the airways that are usually caused by exposure to harmful particles or gases. COPD includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. COPD disease can occur a decrease in oxygen saturation due to disruption of the diffusion process causing hypoxia. This study aims to determine the description of oxygen saturation in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) at Karangasem Hospital. This type of research is descriptive research. Sampling techniques used Non Probability Sampling is Purposive Sampling. The number of samples used in this study amounted to 32 people. The type of data collected from this study is secondary data. The results obtained from the study with a sample of 32 people obtained mostly male (62.5%) while based on age most age groups over 70 years (40.6%). The average value of oxygen saturation in COPD patients is 91,47. Most COPD patients had mild hypoxemia (43.8%). Oxygen saturation values by gender were obtained in more males (40.6%) mild hypoxemia. In terms of age, in the age group >70 years more (25.0%) who experience mild hypoxemia. It is recommended to the nurse to always monitor the oxygen saturation and condition of the patient and pay attention and maintain the airway in order to maintain maximum oxygen supply to the lungs and oxygenation can be maintained, so that the impacts range from illness, limited activity, to decrease productivity until the risk of death can be prevented.
