Abstract
EMERGENCY NURSING CARE OF BREATH PATTERNS IN PATIENTS WITH MASSIVE PLEURAL EFFUSION IN ER SANGLAH HOSPITAL DENPASAR 2021 ABSTRACT Pleural effusion is a condition in which there is a buildup of fluid in the pleural cavity in the form of clear fluid, which may be a transudate, exudate, or may be blood or pus. Symptoms that often appear in patients with pleural effusion are cough and shortness of breath. Positioning for patients with breathing problems is very important to facilitate adequate breathing. This final scientific paper aims to determine the emergency nursing care of breathing patterns in patients with massive pleural effusion with an innovative intervention of lateral positioning in the ER Sanglah Hospital in 2021. At the assessment stage, the two research subjects came with complaints of shortness of breath and increased shortness when lying right and left. The objective data found were shortness of breath, increased respiratory rate, and the use of accessory muscles to breathe. Based on these signs and symptoms, the nursing diagnosis that appears is an ineffective breathing pattern. The innovation intervention carried out is the provision of a lateral position to improve the ventilation process which can increase lung expansion so as to reduce the tightness experienced by the patient. After being given nursing care 1 x 2 hours, it was found that the breathing pattern improved, shortness of breath decreased, the use of accessory muscles of breath decreased, the frequency of breath improved, the depth of breath improved. The results of the evaluation showed that giving the lateral position was able to improve the breathing pattern in patients with pleural effusion.
