Abstract
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that attacks the lung parenchyma and is caused by mycobacterium, causing ineffective airway clearing nursing problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the ineffective airway cleaning nursing care for pulmonary tuberculosis patients in the emergency room of Sanglah Hospital Denpasar. In this scientific work, there are two patients who are used as managed cases. The results of the study showed that the results of subjective data showed that the client said shortness of breath, cough with phlegm was difficult to remove, while the objective data results were dyspnea, visible orthopnea, ineffective cough, looked restless. The nursing diagnosis established in both patients was that ineffective airway clearance was associated with airway hypersecretion. One of the innovative interventions that can be used is the active cycle of breathing technique (ACBT). The evaluation obtained after being given nursing care for 1 × 4 hours, the problem of cleaning the airway was not effectively resolved. The conclusion of the ACBT intervention is that this therapy can help expel sputum in ineffective airway clearing problems. So it is suggested to the nurse in the emergency room of Sanglah Hospital Denpasar to apply ACBT intervention to pulmonary tuberculosis patients. Key words: Nursing care, ineffective airway cleaning, pulmonary tuberculosis
