Abstract

Sperm cells are very sensitive to temperature changes. The temperature may changes the characteristics of spermatozoa, if sperm cell left at a high temperature or too low for a long time. The purpose of this study were to know the effect of storage temperature on sperm motility and determine the optimal storage temperature if do the postponement on sperm examination. The type of this research is an experiment with "Posttest Only Control Group Design" design. This study use sperm fluid samples from 7 adult males, each samples are divided into 4 treatment groups. From the result, the data obtained of 28 data. The research results that the temperature at 4oC and 37oC affect on decrease of sperm motility meanwhile at 25oC there is no effect on the result of examination. Storage of sperm at 25oC is indispensable for a delay examination. Key words : temperature, sperm motility Sel sperma sangat sensitif terhadap perubahan suhu. Suhu dapat menyebabkan perubahan karakteristik spermatozoa jika dibiarkan pada suhu yang tinggi atau terlalu rendah dalam jangka waktu yang terlalu lama. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu penyimpanan terhadap motilitas sperma, dan menentukan suhu penyimpanan optimal jika dilakukan penundaan pemeriksaan sperma. Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimen, dengan rancangan Posttest Only Control Grup Design. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel cairan sperma dari 7 orang laki-laki dewasa. Masing-masing sampel dibagi dalan 4 kelompok perlakuan. Sehingga total data yang diperoleh adalah 28 data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suhu 4oC dan 37oC berpengaruh terhadap penurunan motilitas sperma sedangkan suhu 25oC tidak berpengaruh terhadap hasil pemeriksaan motilitas sperma. Penyimpanan sperma pada suhu 25oC dianjurkan jika terjadi penundaan pemeriksaan. Kata Kunci : suhu, motilitas sperma
