Abstract
Central obesity is a chronic condition characterized by a buildup of visceral fat in the stomach. Central obesity can have a worse impact on obesity during degenerative events. This study discusses the relationship between carbohydrate intake, blood sugar, and central obesity in Denpasar City High School. This type of research is observational with a cross-sectional research design. This research was conducted in January 2020 with 80 female teachers. Data analysis using Pearson Product Moment. The results showed that most of the samples had age> 50 years, namely 43 samples (53%), the average level of carbohydrate intake of 105.22% ranged from 71-160% (SD = 20.91). The average blood sugar level of the sample was 132.9 mg / gL ranging between 62-227 mg / dL (SD = 34.58). The mean abdominal circumference of the sample 85.6 cm ranged from 67-111 cm (SD = 10.26). There was a significant relationship between the level of carbohydrate intake with central obesity (r = 0.296, p = 0.008). There was a significant relationship between blood sugar levels and central obesity (r = 0.417, p = 0,000). There was a significant relationship between the level of carbohydrate intake with blood sugar levels (r = 0.466, p = 0,000). This study concludes that there is a relationship between carbohydrate intake, blood sugar, and central obesity. Keywords: central obesity, blood sugar, carbohydrate intake
