Abstract

DAYA HAMBAT EKSTRAK ETANOL TANAMAN KETUMPANG AIR TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN Streptococcus pyogenes SECARA IN VITRO ABSTRAK Latar Belakang, Streptococcus pyogenes merupakan bakteri patogen pada manusia yang secara umum mengakibatkan faringitis. Bakteri ini resisten terhadap antibiotik tetrasiklin dan eritromisin. Adanya kasus resistensi tersebut, diperlukan eksplorasi mengenai tanaman yang dapat digunakan sebagai agen antibakteri alami, salah satunya tanaman ketumpang air. Tujuan dari penelitian ini mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak tanaman ketumpang air terhadap pertumbuhan Streptococcus pyogenes. Metode, Penelitian ini adalah eksperimen murni dengan rancangan posttest only control group design. Daya hambat ekstrak tanaman ketumpang air diuji pada konsentrasi 10, 20, 30, 40, dan 50%. Kontrol positif menggunakan antibiotik amoxicillin dan kontrol negatif menggunakan etanol 96%. Hasil, hasil penelitian diperoleh rerata diameter zona hambat ekstrak tanaman ketumpang air konsentrasi 10% yaitu 12,9mm, konsentrasi 20% 14,8mm, konsentrasi 30% yaitu 16,7mm, konsentrasi 40% yaitu 18,65mm, konsentrasi 50% yaitu 20,09mm. Kelima konsentrasi ini dikategorikan memiliki daya hambat yang kuat. Analisis statistik dengan uji One Way Anova diperoleh hasil bahwa ada perbedaan diameter zona hambat pertumbuhan Streptococcus pyogenes pada berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak. Dalam uji Least Significant Difference, diperoleh hasil ada perbedaan zona hambat yang bermakna pada masing-masing konsentrasi ekstrak. Simpulan, simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan zona hambat dari masing-masing konsentrasi ekstrak tanaman ketumpang air terhadap pertumbuhan Streptococcus pyogenes secara in vitro. Kata Kunci: ketumpang air, ekstrak, daya hambat, Streptococcus pyogenes INHIBITION POTENTIAL OF ETHANOL EXTRACT OF PEPEROMIA PELLUCIDA AGAINST Streptococcus pyogenes WITH IN VITRO STUDY ABSTRACT Background, Streptococcus pyogenes is one of pathogenic bacteria for human that can cause pharyngitis. This bacteria shown resistance for tetracycline and erythromycin antibiotics. This resistance case, need to exploration of medical plants as natural antibacterial, one of them is Peperomia pellucida plant. This study aimed to know the inhibition potential of Peperomia pellucida ethanol extract against Streptococcus pyogenes. Method, the method of this study was true experiment with posttest only control group design. Inhibition potential of Peperomia pellucida extract was tested at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50% concentration. The positive and negative control of this study are amoxicillin antibiotic and 96% of ethanol. Result, the result of this study showed that the average diameter of inhibition zone of Peperomia pellucida ethanol extract at concentration 10% is 12,9 mm, 20% is 14,8 mm, 30% is 16,7 mm, 40% is 18,65 mm, and 50% is 20,09 mm. These five concentration have strong inhibition potential. Statistic analysis with One Way Anova showed there’s different inhibition zone of Streptococcus pyogenes growth at Peperomia pellucida extract. In Least Significant Difference test showed that there is a significant different of inhibition zone in each extract concentration. Conclusion, The conclusion of this study is there’s different of inhibition zone in concentration extract of Peperomia pellucia against Streptococcus pyogenes with in vitro study.
