Abstract
Motivation in psychology has the meaning of stimulation, encouragement, or power generation for the occurrence of a behavior. The motivation for maintaining dental and oral hygiene is one of the efforts to improve health. Poor dental care can cause dental health problems. Problems that commonly arise in children are cavities, malocclusion, and periodontal disease. The type of research used is a type of descriptive research with interview guides in the form of questionnaires and direct examination with oral diagnostic devices with the number of respondents 74 people. The results of the research were conducted at Syifa Budi Bali Al Azhar Kindergarten in 2019 that the frequency of parents based on the maintenance motivation of children's dental health was 91.5 with a strong motivation category. The frequency of children sufferi ng from caries in primary teeth at Al Azhar Syifa Budi Bali Kindergarten in 2019 teeth with a caries average of 0.81 with a very low caries category. This study can be concluded that the majority of respondents have a high motivation to maintain dental health can affect the frequency of dental caries sufferers.
