THE EFFECTS OF FOOT REFLEXOLOGY MASSAGE ON BLOOD PRESSURE OF PRIMARY HYPERTENSION PATIENTS IN WORK AREA UPT KESMAS GIANYAR I IN 2018 Made Wahyu Riantini ABSTRACT Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that has recently become a major health problem in general. Hypertension affects one billion people in the world with 90-95% of cases unknown cause and is estimated to increase by 1.15 billion cases in 2025. One effort to lower blood pressure is by performing foot reflexology which is a method of relaxation that can make blood circulation in the body smoothly due to the occurrence of blood vessel dilation. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of foot reflexology massage on blood pressure of primary hypertension patients in work area UPT Kesmas Gianyar I in 2018. The research design used is pre experimental with one group pretest-posttest design and using purposive sampling method with number of patient as many as 20 respondents. The mean blood pressure of systole and diastole before treatment was 159,10 / 98,40 mmHg and after treatment was 145,10 / 89,80 mmHg. Hypothesis test is done by using paired t-test and obtained p-value 0.000 (p-value = <0,05), it can be concluded that there is influence of foot reflexology massage on blood pressure of primary hypertension patients. Based on this, it is expected foot reflexology can be applied to patients with primary hypertension as one of the non-pharmacological treatment to lower blood pressure Keywords: foot reflection massage; blood pressure; hypertension; primary hypertension
