Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF GARLIC TO PREVENT DENTAL CARIES IN THE COMMUNITY OF BANJAR PANGI PIKAT VILLAGE 2023 According to The Global Burden of Disease Study (2016) dental and oral health problems, especially dental caries are a disease experienced by almost half of the world’s population (3,8 billion peoples). Basic Health Research results (Riskesdas, 2018) states that the largest proportion of dental and oral health problems in Indonesia is dental caries (45,3%). The purpose of this research to know description of knowledge about the benefits of garlic to prevent dental caries in the community of Banjar Pangi, Pikat Village 2023. The results of this research is percentage level of public knowledge about the benefits of garlic, with the good category is 30 people (75%) and with less category is 10 people (25%), the percentage level of knowledge based on education is the highest good category is Diploma and Bachelor education which is 100% and the highest less category is elementary school education which is 80%, the level of knowledge based on age is the highest good category is the age range of 15-24 years which is 100% and the highest less category is age 55- 64 years which is 66,7%. The average knowledge of the community based on their education level is the lowest level of elementary school education with an average of 54 (less good category) and the highest is diploma with an average of 75 (good category). The conclusion of this study is that the community has a good level of knowledge (75%) Key words: Knowledge, Benefits, Garlic, Community GAMBARAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN TENTANG MANFAAT BAWANG PUTIH DALAM MENCEGAH KARIES GIGI PADA MASYARAKAT BANJAR PANGI DESA PIKAT TAHUN 2023 Berdasarkan The Global Burden of Disease Study (2016) masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut khususnya karies gigi merupakan penyakit yang dialami hampir setengah dari penduduk di dunia (3,58 milyar jiwa). Hasil Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas, 2018) menyatakan bahwa proporsi terbesar masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Indonesia adalah karies gigi (45,3%). Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat pengetahuan tentang manfaat bawang putih dalam mencegah karies gigi pada masyarakat Banjar Pangi, Desa Pikat tahun 2023. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah persentase tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat tentang manfaat bawang putih yaitu dengan kategori baik sebanyak 30 orang (75%) dan kurang baik sebanyak 10 orang (25%), persentase tingkat pengetahuan berdasarkan pendidikannya yaitu kategori baik tertinggi adalah pendidikan Diploma dan Sarjana yakni 100% dan kategori kurang baik tertinggi adalah pendidikan SD yakni 80%, tingkat pengetahuan berdasarkan usianya yaitu kategori baik tertinggi adalah rentang usia 15-24 tahun yakni 100% dan kategori kurang baik tertinggi adalah usia 55-64 tahun yakni 66,7%. Rata-rata pengetahuan masyarakat berdasarkan tingkat pendidikannya yaitu yang terendah adalah tingkat pendidikan SD dengan rata-rata 54 (kategori kurang baik) dan tertinggi adalah diploma dengan rata-rata 75 (kategori baik). Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah masyarakat memiliki tingkat pengetahuan dengan kategori baik (sebanyak 75%). Kata kunci: Pengetahuan, Pemanfaatan, Bawang Putih, Masyarakat
